Kwizeen specialises in English and Mediterranean cuisine. All their starters are priced at £4.50 and include the likes of pan fried monkfish with saffron risotto and Parmasan shavings, or garlic and parsley Morcambe Bay shrimps with Galia melon. The temptation continues with main courses ranging from crisp duck breast with peach tart and port sauce, filleted turbot with dauphinoise potatoes and fresh asparagus tips, or Aberdeen Angus sirloin steak with bubble and squeak and thyme gravy.

La Piazza

As one of the most popular Italian restaurants in the Blackpool area you can expect a really good meal at La Piazza. Start with a dish of calamari in a tomato, garlic and white wine sauce, or their homemade pate and garlic bread, before moving onto a main course where pizza and pasta dominate the menu. You can also find a good choice of chicken, meat and fish delicacies such as fillet steak with a peppercorn, wine and cream sauce, or Dover sole in garlic butter.

Il Corsaro

As a rival restaurant to La Piazza, Il Corsaro is another place in the Blackpool area for fine Italian cuisine. The highlight of the menu here though has to be the excellent selection of fish and seafood dishes on offer. Choices include whole king prawns pan-fried with tomatoes, red wine, garlic and fresh parsley and the equally decadent Dover sole in a cheese and fresh cream sauce. Expect to pay £6-£16 per main course.

Sala Thai

Sala Thai has been serving up a selection of both Chinese and Thai cuisine since 1993. The restaurant is decorated with a selection of oriental artefacts to set the mood but it is definitely the food that is the main focus of attention. The choice of set meal makes ordering easy, or you can just make your own selection. The Thai curries are particularly good though, as is the chicken in black bean sauce.

Frankie and Bennys describes itself as a New York Italian restaurant and bar. Here the house specialities include oven-baked chicken Parmigiana, mushroom risotto, salmon fishcakes and their infamous Frankie and Benny’s mixed grill platter for those with a hearty enough appetite. The other great dish to try is one of their many burgers, but whatever you do save room for dessert.
