Blackpool, Lancashire -travel information and accommodation

As one of Britain’s most famous seaside resorts Blackpool has never been short of visitors. Even before all the modern day attractions that we can see here today were built, the appeal of Blackpool ’s long stretch of fine coastline was clear.

By Victorian times Blackpool was clearly established on the map as a popular place to take to the curative waters of the sea. With more and more people coming to Blackpool various hotels and attractions quickly began to take shape.

Today the must see sight is the famous Blackpool tower that stands at over 150 metres high and houses some of the best local entertainment. There also the Pleasure Beach and no less than three piers spread across its 7-mile stretch of seafront and trams still run along the promenade to make getting about as easy as possible for all ages.

Blackpool ’s fun loving attitude is evident in the form of its numerous pubs and bars and a love of fast food rather than fine dining. The Golden Mile is the area dedicated to amusement arcades and gets packed out every night over the summer. Whilst the winter season remains busy too thanks to the introduction of the famous Blackpool Illuminations. Regular tours travel along the seafront lit up in glorious colour thanks to hundreds of electric and neon lights, a sight that has to be seen to be believed and a real part of the whole experience that is Blackpool.
